The Lied Public Library in Clarinda, Iowa will host a presentation with Chelsea Herman of Flight Path Press on Monday May 1st at 6:30 pm. Chelsea will speak on papermaking history, contemporary examples of hand papermaking (particularly about the art of the book), and papermaking followed by a papermaking demonstration! This is a free event and no registration needed.

Flight Path Press is a private press in Council Bluffs, founded in 2013 by Chelsea Herman specializing in limited edition, fine press artists’ books. In addition to printmaking, papermaking, and creating and producing fine press books by hand, Flight Path Press offers educational opportunities for the public. 

About Chelsea:

Chelsea Herman is a visual artist and educator specializing in the art of the book. She holds an MFA in painting and printmaking from San Diego State University and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Herman’s artists’ books and works on paper have been exhibited at the Oceanside Museum of Art, the International Collection of Contemporary Creative Books, Atelier Vis-a-Vis in Marseille, France and the Janet Turner Print Museum in Chico, California, among others. Herman has worked at Brighton Press in San Diego, California as a printer and studio assistant. She served as instructor of book arts and papermaking and coordinator of the University of Nebraska Omaha Fine Arts Press and is currently the proprietor of Flight Path Press, a private press specializing in limited edition, fine press artists’ books. Herman offers workshops in book arts, printmaking, and papermaking.
