Program Description

Event Details

August Green, a talker by nature and a storyteller by trade, is taking the ‘Art of Gab’ to new heights. With a unique blend of humor, energy, and relatability, Green has emerged as a hot new voice in the world of local entertainment over the last year.

Once being described as, “A modern day Andy Griffith with a twist of Garrison Keillor,” August Green has developed a distinctive style that combines traditional storytelling methods steeped in Southern tradition while seasoning the pot with a distinctively Midwestern attitude that has appeal beyond any one single demographic. What sets Green apart is not just the stories he tells, but the way in which he tells them. “I once heard someone say that it isn’t always about telling funny stories; sometimes it’s about telling stories funny,” he says. Having performed at a multitude of venues, events, and gatherings for everyone from Senior Citizens to Corporate Executives, August Green brings a joyful energy to each show that leaves a lasting impression no matter the crowd. His first album, “August Green - Professionally Unprofessional” is scheduled to be recorded in the Summer of 2024, with a late Fall release date.

“I believe the goal in life should be to have as many good stories as possible,” he says. “I look forward to sharing some of mine with you.”

August Green will be performing May 22, 2025 (6 PM) at Lied Public Library in Clarinda.

About August Green:

August Green is a professional storyteller based in Vinton, Iowa, where he lives with his wife, daughter, and two cats. He has been passionate about storytelling as an art form since his teenage years, often being told by those around him that the only thing he was truly qualified to do was talk. With a mission to bring laughter to all people in all places, August has dedicated his life to sharing stories that connect and entertain. When not telling stories, he is an avid gardener, a dedicated fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and has been said to make “the best Grilled Cheese sandwich known to man.”
